If you own a Dell Dimension 9200 aka XPS 410, and you would like to “hackintosh it” i.e install OS X on a PC then this simple 8 step guide is for you.
Want to skip Snow Leopard and install OS X 10.7.2 Lion? Click Here for an updated guide.
This guide assumes you have basic OSx86 knowledge, you should be able to follow along ok if not, but please don’t be afraid to ask questions I will do my best to help. This guide is wrote from my experience installing OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on my Dell Dimension 9200, just because it works for me doesn’t necessarily mean it will for you, our hardware could be slightly different but in reality you should have no problems if you follow this guide step by step.
Please check your hardware against mine, most likely you’ll have a different graphics card, but hopefully you have one that’s OS X compatible. To find out if your graphics card is OS X compatible search google with “<your cards model number here> OSx86 compatibility” if you need help figuring out how or if your card will work please comment below.
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz – Any stock installed Dell CPU will work.
6GB RAM – Only have 4GB during install – Might work with 6GB.
1TB SATA HDD.
nVidia 8400GS graphics card.
